Colossians 2:14 (HCSB)

He erased the certificate of debt, with its obligations, that was against us and opposed to us, and has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the cross.

As the ESVSB points out, “in the Greco-Roman world a “certificate of debt” was a written note of indebtedness.”  Christ took that debt that was against us and nailed it to the cross on which he himself died.  Our debt.  His cross.  Paid in full.  Inconceivable!
He can pay your debt in full, dear reader, but of course it is up to you to yield, surrender, wave the white flag to him.
