Isaiah 36:14-15 (HCSB)

This is what the king says:“Don’t let Hezekiah deceive you, for he cannot deliver you. Don’t let Hezekiah persuade you to trust in the Lord, saying, ‘The Lord will certainly deliver us! This city will not be handed over to the king of Assyria. ’”

What NOT to say about the God if Israel.  The Rabshakeh can perhaps be excused for his ignorance because every other nation against which Assyria had fought had fallen to Assyria, including the northern ten tribes.  None of their gods had helped them against Assyria’s might.  Who was Yahweh to be any different?
And this was exactly his error.  The Rabshakeh thought that Yahweh was like any other god.  He didn’t understand that Yahweh had created the world and that he was like no other “god” because he was the one, true God.  This the Rabshakeh would discover shortly.
The lesson for us, dear reader?  Do not underestimate the might and power of El Shaddai—God Almighty.  You will be very sorry if you do—as the Rabshakeh discovered.
