““I assure you: An hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.”
… “Do not be amazed at this, because a time is coming when all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come out—those who have done good things, to the resurrection of life, but those who have done wicked things, to the resurrection of judgment.” (John 5:25, 28–29 HCSB).

1. Notice Jesus—since he himself claimed to be the Son of God—is saying the dead will hear My voice and those who hear will live.  One cannot accuse Jesus of not making bold statements and claims.  Never did any man who has ever lived make claims like Jesus did.

2. All dead will live.  Not some dead.  All dead.  Some will live again to life, some will live again to death, but all will live.

3. If we are dead when Jesus speaks, we will hear his voice.  So cool.  So exciting.  So hopeful.  We will live when we hear the voice of our shepherd calling us.

I hope, dear reader, that this truth sinks deep into the very marrow of your bones.  When you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, it is this doctrine that will sustain, support, and comfort you.
