“The enemy said: “I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil. My desire will be gratified at their expense. I will draw my sword; my hand will destroy them.” But You blew with Your breath, and the sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters.”
(Exodus 15:9–10 HCSB)

The boasting of Israel’s enemies (which are by definition God’s enemies) is recounted in the “Song of the Israelites:”

  • I will pursue
  • I will overtake
  • I will divide the spoil
  • My desire will be gratified
  • I will draw my sword
  • My hand will destroy them.

The end of the enemies of God?

“They sank like lead in the mighty waters.”

No boasting when you drown.  Such is the end of all of God’s enemies.
