“But now He has reconciled you by His physical body through His death, to present you holy, faultless, and blameless before Him— if indeed you remain grounded and steadfast in the faith and are not shifted away from the hope of the gospel that you heard.” (Colossians 1:22–23 HCSB)

The importance of perseverance is laid out clearly here by Paul.  Christ will present us holy, faultless, and blameless before God…if we remain grounded and steadfast in the faith.  Paul is not saying that our perseverance saves us, he is warning us about the danger of apostasy.  Those who are truly followers of Christ will persevere in the faith to the end; this is how they are revealed.

It is one thing to talk the talk, it is quite another to walk the walk.
