“You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:14–15 NAS95)

Paul puts a high emphasis here on the “sacred writings” which were able to give Timothy “wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”  The early church absorbed this emphasis and the true church [as opposed to those who merely claim to be Christians] has maintained the importance of the Scriptures ever since then, and for good reason.  When Satan attacks he goes after the veracity of Scriptures and the truth of God’s words again and again.  He started this with Eve in the Garden of Eden, he continues it today—sadly—through the efforts of unbelieving so-called theologians who work to undermine confidence in the Bible in any way they can.

Eta Linneman, who was raised under the teaching of Rudolf Bultmann [just such an unbelieving theologian] and at one time held captive by his deceptions, was brought to the knowledge of the truth and turned away from this pagan approach to the Bible.  She sums up the Bible this way:  You can trust your Bible.
