But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.” (Romans 2:5, ESV)

Strong words from Paul here and words to which we should pay attention.

The word “wrath” means: “divine punishment based upon God’s angry judgment against someone” (Louw-Nida).  This alone should make us not want to be wrath storers.  Do you want God’s wrath stored up against you?  I certainly do not.

The antidote to a “hard and impenitent heart” (NLT: “Because you are stubborn and refuse to turn from your sin”), is to have a heart that is repentant and soft. Only Jesus can give you this kind of heart.
