For this reason Christ is the one who arranges a new covenant, so that those who have been called by God may receive the eternal blessings that God has promised. This can be done because there has been a death which sets people free from the wrongs they did while the first covenant was in force.” (Hebrews 9:15, GNB)

I like the way the GNB translates Heb 9.15.  “There has been a death which sets people free from the wrongs they did.” The author of Hebrews is writing about people who were under the first covenant, but the words and the truth behind them obviously can apply to all people of all time.  Everyone is in slavery to sin [whether they admit it or not] and so everyone needs to be set free.

The only way to be set free from your sins is through the one who arranges a new covenant between God and mankind: Jesus Christ the righteous.

Jesus himself put it this way: ““So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36 NAS95)
