In God we have boasted all day long, And we will give thanks to Your name forever. Selah.” (Psalm 44:8, NASB95)

The sign of a people who trust in the Lord is that those people are obvious for their thankfulness to him, to his name, for his works, and for his character. “Forever”, write the sons of Korah, “will will give thanks to Your name.” It is a good and blessed sign that God’s people vow to thank him forever, for it demonstrates their complete trust and devotion to him.  God receives the glory that he should receive because their is nothing higher or greater in which to give thanks nor on which to depend.

Spurgeon writes: “High let the song be lifted up as we bring to remembrance the eternal love which chose us, predestinated us to be sons, redeemed us with a price, and then enriched us with all the fulness of God.”

Well spoken, Mr. Spurgeon; well spoken, indeed.
