O Lord, You showed favor to Your land; You restored the captivity of Jacob. You forgave the iniquity of Your people; You covered all their sin. Selah. You withdrew all Your fury; You turned away from Your burning anger.” (Psalm 85:1–3, NASB95)

Verbs of the Lord’s work:

  1. You showed favor to your land
  2. You restored the captivity of Israel
  3. You forgave the iniquity of your people
  4. You covered all their sin.
  5. You withdrew all your fury.
  6. You turned away Your burning anger.

These are active verbs.  God is doing things, he is not passive.

These are verbs of restoration and renewal. God is doing things that cause the restoration of his people to himself and renews the covenant between He and his people.  He is doing this on his own initiative and due to his own desire, not because he must do it or because someone or something asked him to do so or compelled him to do so.

This is the nature of our God.
