Enjoy life with your beloved wife during all the days of your fleeting life that God has given you on earth during all your fleeting days; for that is your reward in life and in your burdensome work on earth.” (Ecclesiastes 9:9, NET)

“The fundamental fact of life,” writes the author of Ecclesiastes, “is that it flees away so fast.” If you are older than about 50, you understand what he means. When you’re in your 20’s and 30’s, you don’t spend any time thinking about the brevity of life, but when you hit your 60’s and beyond, you certainly do.  You’ve become the very oldsters that you noticed hanging around in your 20’s.

What to do? “Enjoy life!” Be grateful for the things that God has given you. Be grateful for your beloved spouse today. Don’t spend a lot of time worrying about the future because who knows if you’ll even make it to the future. Only God knows that.

Be grateful. Enjoy life now. Don’t forget that your life is fleeting. Seems like wise advice to me.
