For you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.” (Psalm 63:7, ESV)

We do not usually associate being “in the shadows” with singing for joy, yet there is one instance in which we can sing for joy with all of our might in the shadows.  This is when we sing in the shadow of the wings of El Shaddai–God Almighty.

If you are in the shadow of the wings of God, dear reader, and if you are his then you are indeed under that shadow, then you can sing with full confidence and sing with greatest joy because as Gerard Manley Hopkins put it:

For the Holy Ghost over the bent world broods, with warm breast and ah, bright wings.
